Rev. Dr. Demetrius S. Carolina serves as the Executive Director of First Central Economic Development Inc. (FCEDI), the community and economic development arm of First Central Baptist Church located on Staten Island’s North Shore. With more than two decades of leadership experience in ministry, community development, and public service, Dr. Carolina has dedicated his career to strengthening communities, building partnerships, and advancing opportunities for historically underserved populations.

Under his leadership, FCEDI works to promote economic empowerment, health equity, workforce development, and neighborhood revitalization. The organization collaborates with local residents, nonprofit partners, healthcare institutions, government agencies, and philanthropic organizations to create programs that address real community needs.

Dr. Carolina has held numerous leadership roles across New York City including service on boards and advisory bodies that focus on community health, civic engagement, and public accountability. His work reflects a deep commitment to building bridges between faith institutions, public systems, and community stakeholders.

In addition to his work with FCEDI, Dr. Carolina serves as Senior Pastor of First Central Baptist Church, where he continues to lead initiatives that combine faith, service, and community development. His leadership philosophy centers on the belief that strong communities are built through collaboration, compassion, and strategic investment in people.

Through FCEDI, Dr. Carolina continues to guide efforts that create pathways to opportunity, improved health outcomes, and sustainable economic growth for residents of Staten Island and beyond.
